BLADE HOLDERS:
- Ceramic XD-CH3: $50.00 (normal type)
- Alloy XD-CH2: $70.00 (lighter, more durable)
-
The Alloy blade holders are lighter and don't crack when they are dropped. They are used primarily on
the high-end vinyl cutters (GX-PRO) and print-cut machines. The magnet inside the blade holder is
designed to be frictionless. Oil will not help at the magnet end, and may cause increased friction.
In general when the cutter holder starts to sieze causing the blade to stop turning properly, it's time to change the holder. In the ceramic blade holders, the cause is usually a cracked ceramic liner from drop impact. In some cases the bottom bearing will wear and temporary relief can be gotten from putting a drop of oil there, but that will not solve the problem long-term.
